[Abbotsford]— Monique Charbonnier CPDT , owner and Director of Training and Behavior Counseling at Gentle Puppy Training in Abbotsford, recently attended the five days APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) 15th annual conference in Oakland , California, USA. This event attracted almost 1,200 professional dog trainers from around the world, and 33 internationally known speakers. Charbonnier attended seminars on Fear and Anxiety Behaviors, Training Small Dogs, Rally-O, Basic of Pet Dog Training as well as many other topics. As a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT), Charbonnier is required to accumulate 36 continuing educational units (CEU’s) every 3 years. This conference alone accounted for 32 CEU’s. In addition to attending seminars, Charbonnier was also recognized as a Charter Member, she was among a group of trainers attending the very first APDT conference in Orlando in 1994.
The Association of Pet Dog Trainers is the largest organisation of dog training professionals in the world. Founded in 1993, the mission of the 6,000+ member APDT is to enhance the human-dog relationship by educating trainers, other animal professionals and the public by advocating dog-friendly training.
